Saturday Jan 17, 2026
Saturday Jan 17, 2026
Is Feminism a "with us or against us" movement?
Should we be concerned about Trump's attack on Venezuela?
In this episode of "What's On Your Mind", Ekene and Ayisha dissect the lived realities of power dynamics from how movements like feminism are perceived to how global politics is shaped.

Robust discussions on Venezuela and Feminism! I think everyone stood their ground, and I think everyone learnt from the other, on the feminist topic. Personally, I don’t place too much value on certain labels. For me, it’s a bit like: do you want to keep 600+ commandments, or just two that cover it all: love God and love your neighbour as yourself? Cos I believe it goes without saying that in choosing the latter (the way of love), all other things are kept in the right place.

Very interesting conversations. On Venezuela, I think we can abandon the pretence towards a Rules Based Order. We are now firmly in the Might is Right Order. Cheta is right, America didn’t start doing this in 2026, they have a 80 years history of doing it. They are now much more braven. Secondly on this point, we can also say that the same challenge that led to the demise of the League of Nations appears to be faced now by the UN. Big nations ignoring the charter or UN resolutions to take unilateral actions. If the UN can’t get those with Veto powers on the security council to respect the Charter, how can they enforce international law with those without veto powers. On the Feminist issue, interestingly, this was a family conversation during the Christmas holidays with me mostly expressing the views of Ekene and Cheta while my daughter expressed the views of Aisha and my wife toed the line of thought of Funke. I will surely send this podcast to the family group for further discussion.
